Objective: to determine the frequency of burn-out syndrome in medical students and professionals involved in clinical activities in a medical school in Medellín, Colombia. Methodology: a cross-sectional, observational, and prospective study. The study population included older than 18 undergraduate and graduate students and medical professors, A tool created in Microsoft Forms was used for obtaining information from primary sources. Absolute and relative frequencies were determined for qualitative variables, Median and interquartile ranges were obtained for quantitative variables. Results: out of 144 participants, 50.6% (73) were undergraduate students, 29.1% (42) graduate students, and 20.3% (29) medical professors. Mean age was 26 years. 65.9% (95) were females. Discussion: 73.8% (31) of the graduate students reported sleeping <6 hours/day, undergraduate students had the highest scores, with a mean score of 29.38 (high), for emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, while medical professionals were those who claimed to feel less fulfilled on a personal level, with a mean of 39.3 (medium). Conclusion: the present study, could evidence, that burnout affected undergraduate students the most, however, medical professionals claimed to be the most dissatisfied with their personal fulfillment.
