            In order to identify the compliance of the preventive measures established against biological risk by the nursing staff (professional and auxiliary), in the emergency service of a third-level care hospital, in the city of Bogotá, out a descriptive study and a checklist. The results showed that the personnel, object of the study, possess the necessary knowledge about biosafety norms and waste management, but their practices are inadequate, although the institution provides most of the necessary elements.
