    Archie Brain published the first description of the newly designed Iaryngeal mask in 2000. It features a second tube parallel to the ventilation tube and its distal end located at the tip of the mask. It is designed to separate the respiratory tract from the gastrointestinal tract allowing a tube to be passed for aspiration of gastric contents. This new design is known as the ProSeal Laryngeal Mask Airway PLMA. Hereunder we describe current indications, comparison with other airway devices and complications.
