Abstract

Liver regeneration has been one of the most studied processes in medicine because the liver is a highly important and complex organ of the organism, seat of multiple diseases and exposed by its anatomical location to trauma. Liver transplantation has become one of the most frequent procedures in organ transplantation, so the knowledge of the basic aspects of this therapeutic technique and the study of the histological and physiological mechanisms linked to liver regeneration, is essential for achieve a satisfactory result. An exploratory study of the literature related to the subject was carried out, with the aim of exposing essential and updated aspects, linked to the physiological modifications and the organic response to liver transplantation, as well as some practical clinical characteristics in this procedure.
