Abstract

In order to elaborate a guide of palliative care in nursing for the patient with terminal chronic renal failure in dialysis and without possibility of transplant, the knowledge that the nurses working in different renal units of Bogotá, about the palliative care that they had, was investigated. They provided the patients, and how they received and applied them in their own care to alleviate their illness. This information was obtained through the application of two semi-structured questionnaires that showed a general interest to improve the quality of life of patients, through simple and effective care that allows to meet this objective. Then the information was complemented with the experience of the researcher and the literature obtained on the subject in the different texts consulted, all with the purpose of adding new care and optimizing those already suggested by the population under study. The guide was then elaborated according to the functional patterns of M. Gordon and the diagnoses of the North American Association of nursing diagnoses, as well as the defining characteristics, expected results and the care obtained during the research with scientific foundations.
