Abstract

This study was carried out with the objective of standardizing the educational practice of the nursing staff of the Founders A ward of the Hospital of San José de Bogotá with the patient, about the care at home with the surgical wound through the design and implementation of an educational model . The methodological design used was action research, which allows the interrelation of support and advice with the population of the study, as well as the generation of new knowledge to the researcher and the participating groups. This was a step-by-step process. First, the nurses of the Fundadores A pavilion were sensitized, where they learned the importance and the need to implement the educational model. With the participation of the study staff and the research group, the model was designed to continue with the second step of the process that opened the way to its application and evaluation. The application of the design was considered by the staff as a work tool that unifies knowledge and designated activities. The result shows that the group not only received the knowledge of the model but that it became part of their daily practice. In conclusion, the educational model improved the educational practice of the nursing staff with the surgical patient, about home care with the surgical wound. This will be included in the quality scheme that highlights the institution.
