Abstract

The case of a patient managed in the gynecological service of the Hospital of San José is presented with a diagnosis of post-perforation drilling and IUD migration. It is a rare occurrence and the reported rate is 0.87 per 1,000 insertions. 1 Post-perforation perforation is classified as primary if the symptoms occur immediately or secondarily when the migration is a consequence of reactive contractions of the uterus and the symptomatology manifests late. 2 For its extraction, according to its location and known complications, qualified personnel and surgical experience are required. Through endoscopic gynecology, extraction through laparotomy has been reduced. However, in certain cases, as it is exposed in this case, its location is not achieved or other reparative procedures are required, according to the findings or complications found in the intervention.
