Abstract

Objective: to describe the experience with the use of intratympanic corticosteroids for the treatment of Meniere's disease, at the Hospital de San José. Study: descriptive observational type of case series. Methods: patients with Meniere's disease according to the criteria established by the American Academy of Otolaryngology (AA OHNS) in 1995, who were studied the audiometric changes and symptom improvement after the application of CIT. Two patients improved their audiometry, one of them with profound hearing loss recovered to moderate and another one improved according to the AA OHNS criteria. Conclusion: Intratympanic therapy with dexamethasone may be useful in the treatment of Meniere's disease to control the symptoms and auditory deterioration. In our study no complications related to the procedure were found. Abbreviations: MS, Meniere's disease; CIT, intratympanic corticoid.
