Abstract

The high morbidity and mortality in intracranial aneurysms requires rapid identification of alarm symptoms and timely treatment in case of rupture. Hence the importance of diagnostic images to identify patients at risk and define endovascular or surgical management. We reviewed the criteria for the use of the flow redirecting stent in intracranial aneurysms, an endovascular method that reduces comorbidities, surgical time and hospital stay. Retrospective descriptive study from 2010 to 2012 of seven cases. Complications are presented, with headache and thrombosis after the procedure being the most frequent. Endovascular treatment is safe, effective and innovative and therefore can be implemented and disseminated. Abbreviations: AI, intracranial aneurysm (s).
