Abstract

Cardiac tamponade for clinical causes is a rare and difficult to diagnose entity. We report the case of a female patient treated at a mid-level hospital for cardiac tamponade due to de novo metastatic disease. The physiopathology of the effusion, etiological causes, clinical manifestations, value of diagnostic aids available for these cases and those used in special situations, as well as the management of this pathology, were analyzed.
