Resumen

Objetivo: describir las complicaciones más frecuentes en la histeroscopia comparando las técnicas mediante energía monopolar y la bipolar. Metodología: búsqueda en las bases de datos ELSEVIER, EBSCO, NCBI, SCIENCEDIRECT, SciELO y PUBMED/MEDLINE, aplicando en forma controlada los términos MeSH “hysteroscopy” y subencabezamientos como “complications”, “monopolar energy” y “bipolar energy”, seleccionando artículos de revisión e investigaciones originales en español e inglés publicados en     los últimos cinco años. Resultados: los hallazgos sugieren que existe una estrecha relación entre las complicaciones y el tipo de intervención histeroscópica que se lleva a cabo por indicación, siendo el dolor la más frecuente en la de tipo oficinal y la perforación uterina en la quirúrgica. La histeroscopia con energía monopolar reporta un mayor riesgo de hiponatremia comparada con la bipolar. Conclusión: las complicaciones dependen del tipo de histeroscopia realizada y su indicación, siendo la hiponatremia la única prevalente asociada a la técnica que utiliza energía monopolar.
