Abstract

The HAI (instrument for the evaluation of handwashing) is a validated document of North American origin that has been validated for its application in our language and population. The following investigation developed the previous steps, such as adaptation and improvement, following the steps suggested by Sánchez and Gómez. ' Then a focus group was formed with the objective of evaluating and adapting the grammar and writing of each of the instrument's items to our language. Likewise, the improvement was carried out with 20 people, who represented a part of the accessible population, through simple random sampling. It has been proven that the HAI is applicable in our population and that thanks to the grammatical changes of the focus group and the results of the improvement, it is an understandable and manageable document that can be developed in any hospital, service or unit. In addition, it does not exclude any health worker and is therefore accessible to all professionals in this area. In addition, it is the first version in another language and will be in the future material of many investigations in the University Foundation of Health Sciences together with the Faculty of Surgical Instrumentation.
