Abstract

The humanization of health services is the most important bet that different healthcare centers are developing in the country, making the patient and his family feel more and better cared for is a challenge. This is how the Children's University Hospital of San José, fulfilling its promise of "warm and reliable hands" value, renewed its children's oncology unit, making it a more pleasant environment for the children served by the institution.
This hospital was the old Lorencita Villegas de Santos and was rescued in 2006 by the University Foundation of Health Sciences (FUCS) with 11 years of reopening. It is known as the modern University Children's Hospital of San José. The FUCS has watched over its Institution and this is how, thanks to its financial contribution and that of Asociados and Vélez, after two months of remodeling, this oncological wing today is a fact.
The children will have a more comfortable space for them and their companions, in which they feel with a better state of mind to face their procedures and recovery. It is noteworthy that a chemotherapy can take up to six or eight hours a day, which generates a physical and mental exhaustion that must be addressed in the best way.
